Pipe fabricators work with both hot and cold rolled steel tubing. Some tube mills will use cold rolled tubing so that the pipes can be produced on a larger scale and in greater quantities. This allows the fabricator to offer a wider range of products and at a lower per item cost. Some pipe mills will only work with cold rolled tubing due to the high costs involved. In most cases, it is more affordable to buy tubing in bulk at the beginning of the manufacturing process and make it available as needed to meet customer orders.
